Ubi Quando

By RM

The teacher was analyzing some verse by an English poet. While my mind worked on the lesson, I also attended to an unexpected visit from an old friend. Standing quietly in my inner vision, bathed in a nimbus of soft white light, my guardian angel greeted me.

These visits were very special, and I greatly cherished them. His presence was very uplifting. The other boys seemed unaware that anyone was there.

On this occasion he told me his name. Since I had often thought of him simply as my guardian angel, I pondered what he had said in the silent language of the spiritual travelers: "Ubi Quando."

From my Latin classes I knew that ubi meant "where." Quando meant "when." When previously given other sacred words by my guardian angel, I had recited them to myself throughout the day; they were uplifting in a way I didn't quite understand. I was delighted to know Ubi Quando's name. It brought his presence closer to me.

The significance of ubi (where) and quando (when) was revealed to me later. Ubi Quando was showing me that heaven is here and now; the spiritual travelers, the ECK Masters, live and work always in the present moment.

That was in 1969. In 1975, when I read my first books on Eckankar, I understood. The ECK Master Fubbi Quantz gave me a warm greeting when I made the connection.
